Task 1: Research
Step 1:
In selected pairs, choose a product with an associated ethical or moral issue.
The issue may take place in its production, harvest, manufacturing or importation processes.

The PRODUCTION phase surrounds the growing of key ingredients or components of your product. This may be plant or animal based.

The HARVEST phase focuses on the collection of key product ingredients or components. This may include the harvesting of plant, animal or mineral based materials

The MANUFACTURING phase is where the goods are assembled into the final product. This may occur in factories, refineries or in other production hubs.

The IMPORTATION phase is when the final product is transported to their final point of sale.
|
Issues could include: deforestation, pollution, child labour, unfair working conditions, pollution, animal cruelty etc.

Step 2:
Begin researching your product.
Create a GoogleDoc with your partner and copy the following questions into it.
Then utilise the internet to find websites that help you to answer ALL components of the questions.
Copy the URLs and paste these beneath each relevant question in your GoogleDoc. This will be necessary for the next step.

- What is your product? How is it made? What is it made of?
- Where your product is produced, assembled and sold? It may be easier to pick a specific brand of product.
- What are the moral and ethical issue/s associated with the product. HINT: Think about the Who, What, When, Where and Why?
- How can a consumer influence the production and trade conditions? What could you do to make a difference?
Then utilise the internet to find websites that help you to answer ALL components of the questions.

Step 3:
After finding websites, you and your partner need to divide them between yourselves and analyse them on Diigo. You should analyse a MINIMUM of 3 different websites each.
Complete the following task elements for each website using your new Diigo skills:
1. Highlight ANY information that helps you to answer your research points.
2. Highlight the title of the website. Create a comment discussing the source reliability Determine the WHO? WHERE? and WHY?
3. If you find information that supports or differs from information found in other
sources, create a comment explaining how it is the same or how it differs.
Which information are you going to believe? Why?
Complete the following task elements for each website using your new Diigo skills:
